I am married to Pastor Miriam (1981), whom I met at seminary. We have adult sons, Andrew and Matthew. We all came to Georgia and Christ Our Shepherd in 1998.

I am involved in just about all aspects of worship. I play the organ (and piano) for sanctuary services. I love working directly with seven music groups; there are about 16 more which I support. All kinds of exciting worship planning takes place with the staff, the Worship and Music Team, our passionate volunteers, and with GraceFlock’s worship leadership. Stephen Ministry is important to me; I have been a S.M. leader for over two decades.

What's your favorite part of your job?

Every day I am amazed at the devotion, talent, enthusiasm, compassion and generosity in the COS family. Not only are the people rich in ability, they are willing and excited to use their gifts to praise God, build his kingdom, and enrich the community of faith. When all that is guided by a Spirit-filled vision, God will bless our neighborhood, community, and his world through COS.

What's something most people don't know about you?

I have worked with 12 pastors in 3 denominations, not counting Miriam.

My favorite...

My favorite Bible verse is: "So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way." Colossians 3:12-17 (The Message)

What's your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is being to interact with so many members of the congregation. Everyone is so dedicated to the upkeep and improvement of our facility. I enjoy the opportunity to sit with a group of members, look at what projects we will work on, start the project and then I am able to sit back and look at how we have transformed that section of the building. I could not do my job without the help and cooperation of so many members who are behind the scene.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I love to travel, to places that we have never been before or just back home to our favorite stomping grounds. My favorite place to be though, is at the beach. I feel so grounded and at peace there. For me, it is knowing that I am just a small piece of God’s universe, but, we are all an important piece!

My favorite...
My favorite way to spend my time off is to be with my husband, our children, and our granddaughter. As everyone told me, wait until you become a grandparent...boy were they right! Our little one cannot do anything wrong in our eyes, and I just delight in spending as much time as I can with her.

What's something most people don't know about you?
Something that people don't know about me is I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area. My parents are both from Tennessee though, so as much as I loved growing up in a big city, I'm a southern girl at heart.

My favorite...
My favorite thing to do when I'm not singing or playing music is spending time with my husband, Greg, and our fur-baby, a black lab named Wally.

Seeing Jesus’ love shine in teenagers’ energy and humor. Mission trips are a great place to see Jesus’ love shine through teens in surprising and wonderful ways.

What's something most people don't know about you?
I’ve been skydiving and it was INCREDIBLE.

My favorite...
…odd Bible story is Mark 14:51-52. It’s Maundy Thursday, Jesus was praying in the garden, and the soldiers come to arrest him. In the mayhem, Peter tries to defend Jesus by cutting off a soldier’s ear but then there’s this guy. He didn’t rise up to defend like Peter did. Instead he (probably Gospel-writer Mark) was so scared by the soldiers coming to arrest Jesus that he took off running – so scared that he kept running even though his garments had fallen off – and there, in the midst of all that is happening to Jesus leading up to crucifixion and resurrection, this scared unclothed guy gets written into the story. I can think of times when I’ve felt safer running than sticking around. I’m probably more like that scared runner than I am like Jesus, yet the scared guy is written into the story… which is another reminder to me that God even has room to write me into the story. We really are loved and included for who we are!
